Spring/Summer 14 Collection
Moody and Farrell’s Spring/Summer 14 Collection is the three-way lovechild of wrought ironwork, Elizabethan dress and traditional straw work. In the search for new technique’s Moody and Farrell have journeyed to deepest Oxfordshire to undertake gruelling training from an 80 year old straw craftswoman. Learning ancient and mysterious practices M and F returned to the studio with a newfound respect for the humble straw and an unquenchable thirst to plait.
Using the flowing lines of wrought iron work, mixed with the undulating elaborate beauty of an Elizabethan ruff, M and F have hand crafted a collection of incredibly ornate hats and headpieces.
Each piece of straw has been hand plaited or hand woven. HAT Pins and Emblems have been plaited and shaped by hand in brass to adorn hats like resplendent Elizabethan brooches. Wooden combs have been cut and curved by hand within the studio, providing stages upon the head to display ornamental straw frameworks.
