Rebecca E Marshall is a filmmaker who likes exploring natural visual effects. She uses an experimental style that informs her short films and documentaries in 35mm, 16mm and DV. Her work can make you aware of yourself as machinery: yet soft, fragile and very much alive.

Her work has been shown at the National Film Theatre, The London Royal Opera House and film festivals worldwide. In 2009 she published a solo book ‘Ways to Disappear’ of prose poems and DVD.

Since 2002 she has been co-founding director of The Electric Palace Cinema, a 52 seat independent venue in Hastings which was listed by The Guardian as one of UK’s top three bijou cinemas. From 2001 to 2009 she was co-founder and curator of Shot by the Sea, Hastings annual Festival of Film and Moving Image.

In May 2012 she received her MA distinction from T he London Film School as director/production designer.

She currently works freelance as a filmmaker both for fiction and non-fiction projects.

All bags are ethically produced and a large proportion are made in conjunction with accessories designer Elaine Burke and khama.co.uk- a network of women’s community groups in malawi. By purchasing these products you are helping to offer support and sustainable employment for women in one of Africa’s poorest regions.

The Absolut Bar was designed for a the Ron Arad exhibition, Restless, at The Barbican. The bar was designed by Tom Foulsham and Valentin Vodev, sponsored by Absolut and made by Wildercreative.

The bar slowly rotates and makes a full 360-degree turn over 10 minutes. This slow rotation is initially not visible, so the onlookers are at first not aware of this motion. The idea is to surprise people with the subtle movement.
The engineering behind the movement is a low voltage bicycle wheel motor that rotates 360 degrees every 10 minutes.
The Absolut bar is easy to store away. It can be wheeled away and tilted 90 degrees to lean against a wall.

All CNC’d components built by our team, in our workshop. Take a look at the video to see how everything fits perfectly together.

Here’s what the designers have to say about the project:

Designed as a mobile platform for the Rewind Forward project the ‘Pop Out Shop’ takes the form of an ordinary curtain sider truck. Drawing back the curtain reveals a jigsaw of bespoke formed polystyrene, plywood shipping crates and mesh cage elements designed to be unpacked at a variety of public locations. The Pop Out Objects are decorated with colours, graphics and text inspired by the 70’s and 80’s Puma heritage and CNC engraved with information descibing the project and how to reassemble the collection. These irregular shaped objects are used to display items from the archive, house monitors, act as plinths or become seating and tables for the public to interact with. Reconfigurable in a variety of ways at each individual site before being packed up and shipped onto the next location. Inside the truck a wall of red shoe boxes on CNC cut plywood shelving frame displays of the current PUMA ranges where visitors can browse through clothing or inspect particular shoes.
